Aerostar
| Introduced way back in 1986, Ford's rear-drive minivan came in both passenger and cargo-hauling form. A stretched van joined the original for 1989, on the same 118.9-inch wheelbase but with 15.4 inches tacked onto the rear. An available 4.0-liter V6 and heavy-duty 4-speed automatic transmission arrived for 1990. Also new for 1990: full-time 4-wheel drive (as an option) and standard antilock rear brakes. Seating for five was standard; space for seven optional. Six trim levels were available. |
|
Aspire
| Korean-built, Mazda-designed minicompact went on sale early in 1994, replacing the Festiva as Ford's entry-level automobile. Dual airbags were standard and antilock braking optional. The front-drive Aspire used a 63-horsepower 4-cylinder engine, with 5-speed manual shift or optional 3-speed automatic transmission. Automatic was optional only on base-model Aspires, and available power steering could be installed only on base-model 4-doors. Both 2- and 4-door hatchbacks were sold, the latter on a longer wheelbase. Both came in base-level trim, and the 2-door could be ordered in upscale SE guise, adding fog lamps, a rear spoiler, and different seats and interior trim. |

Bronco
| "The Bronco concept showcases significant advanced powertrain technologies, mating a 2.0-liter intercooled turbo diesel with an efficient six-speed PowerShift transmission and Intelligent four-wheel-drive system for a powerful, sure-footed off-roader," said Graham Hoare, director, Powertrain Advanced and Research Engineering. "Then comes the fun part. We’ve added nitrous-oxide injection for a burst of power at your fingertips." |
|
Club Wagon
| Capable of seating 15 in its extended form, Ford's full-size passenger van is a true people hauler. In 1997, the Club Wagon received Ford's new 6.8-liter V10 Triton motor, a new, more spacious interior and standard dual airbags—improvements aimed at helping it compete with Chevrolet's new Express full-size van. First introduced in 1961, Club Wagon and Econoline combined have sold nearly six million units and appear well positioned to continue the trend. |

Contour
| Ford's latest rival to the Honda Accord and other compact and mid-size sedans replaced the Tempo. Mercury offers a similar 4-door sedan, called Mystique. Both were based on the European Ford Mondeo. Contour came in GL, LX, and sporty SE price levels. Dual airbags were standard. Antilock brakes and traction control (which works at all speeds) were optional on all models. Bumpers that withstand a 5-mph impact are a bonus. Base engine was a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, producing 125 horsepower. Standard on the SE and optional on the others was a 170-horsepower 2.5-liter V6. Both engines were available with 5-speed manual shift or an optional electronic 4-speed automatic transmission. |
|
Contour SVT
| The "SVT" part of this Contour includes a tweaked engine, a special handling package, a different suspension, and other accouterments. It's made by a small division (actually a subcontractor, we believe) of Ford that's focusing on projects like this one. In other words, this is not your everyday Ford Contour. The very fact that we're talking about it in the same breath as BMW is proof enough. This car is very European in look and feel. |

Explorer
When you mess with a winner, you must be very, very careful, and that's what Ford was when they redesigned the Explorer, America's favorite midsize sport utility for the last 15 years in a row.
By careful we don't mean conservative, either. By careful, we mean Ford spent serious effort dotting the i's and crossing the t's, looking after the details that make all the difference. At the same time, Ford realigned the models and overhauled the pricing structure, giving customers more truck for less money, nearly $4,000 less in some cases. |

Five Hundred
| When Ford introduced its all-new Five Hundred sedan for 2005, it was in many ways the equivalent of the company's revolutionary Taurus in 1986. Like the curvaceous Taurus 19 years earlier, the Five Hundred redefined the American family sedan. But while Taurus was mostly about styling and character, Five Hundred rewrote the rules of packaging and powertrain. Ford says they “took a look at the attributes that make crossovers popular and sought to deliver some of those qualities in a sedan. While the industry tries to create new car-based crossovers, the Ford Five Hundred stands alone as the first crossover-based car." |

Focus
There is nothing like a well-crafted sport sedan to deliver driving enjoyment. Take the 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 ST for instance. This four-door compact has all the ingredients for a great driving experience—while delivering consistent good news at the gas pump. Its dynamic body styling is enhanced for '06 with a pair of exciting new Street Appearance Packages, while a stylish and comfortable interior rewards driver and passengers alike with a high-quality environment. The Focus model range has earned plenty of validating awards, including five consecutive years on Car and Driver's 10 Best list, four years as a Consumer Guide Best Buy, and four Automobile magazine All-Star awards. But it becomes even more appealing for '06 with a host of other upgrades and improvements.

|
Focus ZX3
| A new Street Appearance Package for the ZX3 lends a customized appearance to the 2006 Ford Focus with unique front and rear fascias and a chrome exhaust tip. A CD/MP3 player is standard on all models, and alloy wheels are now a stand-alone option for S and SE trim levels. Order the in-dash, six-disc CD changer and get auxiliary steering wheel controls. Finally, new colors include Dark Red Toreador metallic, Pueblo Gold metallic, and Screaming Yellow clearcoat. |

Free Style
Not exactly a car or an SUV, Freestyle debuted for 2005 as a car-based "crossover." Think of it as the legitimate love child of a family sedan and an SUV.
The fast-growing “crossover” category includes a variety of tallish cross-breeds of passenger cars with SUVs and/or minivans trying to blend the best attributes of two of those types, or even all three. Available in small, medium and larger sizes, their common mission is providing the best possible mix of van-like people and cargo capacity, SUV-like versatility and all-weather capability and car-like driving dynamics and fuel efficiency. |
|
Free Star
| Ford redesigned and substantially improved its practical Windstar minivan, and changed its name to Freestar for the 2004 model year—not to be confused with Ford's Freestyle car-based crossover, which followed for 2005. The good news for Ford minivan fans is that more improvements arrive for 2006, beginning with nicely redesigned front door panels and interior trim. |

 |
Mustang
| Ford's new-generation Mustang is an amazing blend of the best of two different worlds. It looks very much like the late-‘60s Mustangs that were so popular in their day, while it drives exactly like the fully contemporary performance coupe it is. |
|
Mustang GT
| Ford brings back its through-back muscle car for 2006. The GT, which ran and won for three years at LeMans in the 1960s, is a limited production coupe with only a planned 1000 models built a year. The GT comes equipped with a 5.4L V-8 DOHC super charged engine boasting 550 horsepower paired to a manual six-speed transmission with overdrive. Standard features include leather bucket seats, HID headlamps, Brembo power front and rear disk brakes, P235/45ZR18 front tires and P315/40ZR19 rear tires. Available options include painted brake calipers, painted racing stripes, and painted forged aluminum wheels. Also available is a McIntosh audiophile radio system with subwoofer. |

Engine choices on the Ranger include a 143 horsepower 2.3L four-cylinder engine, a 148 horsepower 3.0L V6 engine, or a 4.0L V-6 engine that generates 207 horsepower and 238 lb-ft of torque. All engines are mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission. Safety features include front and rear anti-lock brakes, dual front airbags and a tire pressure monitoring system. Optional packages available on the Ranger include a Bright Trim Package and a XLT 2WD Appearance Package. |
|
SVT Lightning
More horsepower, new rear-axle gearing, suspension fine-tuning and several distinctive exterior appearance changes, elevate the made-in-Canada 2001 SVT (Special Vehicle Team) F-150 Lightning to an even higher level of performance.
"The 2001 SVT Lightning gives owners everything they have learned to love, but more of it," says Al McCormick, Ford of Canada's SVT brand manager. "It's the most powerful, best-handling one yet produced, and some dramatic design changes make this 2001 model instantly recognizable." |

Taurus
| The Taurus enters 2006 again available in four models: SE and SEL Sedan, with the SE and SEL Wagons coming later on in the year. All models feature a 3.0L V-6 engine that produces 155 horsepower and 185 ft-lbs of torque. Standard equipment on the Taurus includes a four-speed automatic transmission, keyless entry remote system, front and rear mudguards, and power convenience features. The optional Safety and Security Package features traction control, anti-lock brakes, and front side impact airbags. The SEL Premium Package includes a six-disc CD changer with AM/FM cassette stereo, electronic climate control, leather seating surfaces, rear spoiler (sedan), power adjustable passenger seat, and automatic headlamps. |

Taurus SHO
Ford's Taurus SHO (Super High Output) model had an eleven-year run. In 1989 it was introduced with a Yamaha-built 3.0L V6 and only with a 5-speed transmission available. By the end-of-the-line in 1999 Yamaha was working with Ford on building the SHO's 3.4L V8 motor. Only a four-speed automatic was available in the later years.
Annual sales averaged about 7,000 to 8,000 SHO's a year, or about 2% of the total Taurus production. |

Tempo
| Introduced for 1984, Tempo and the similar Mercury Topaz were facelifted in 1988. The front-drive 2- and 4-door sedans came in two trim levels for 1990: GL and GLS. A top-of-the-line LX edition came only as a 4-door. A driver-side airbag had been optional on 4-doors as early as 1986, though not many were installed. A part-time 4-wheel-drive option debuted in 1987, intended for use only on slippery pavement. This All-Wheel Drive system came only on 4-door sedans. A 98-horsepower 4-cylinder engine went into GL and LX models, while GLS and All-Wheel Drive Tempos got a 100-horsepower rendition. |
|
Thunderbird
| The All New 2002 Thunderbird features modernized design elements from the '55-'57 and '61-'62 Thunderbirds. These elements were to include port-hole windows, a hood scoop, rounded headlamps, tail lamps and fog lamps, and the Thunderbird's trademarked badging. |

Windstar
| Dual sliding doors as well as some minivan "firsts" were part of a comprehensive 1999 makeover for the Ford Windstar. Wheelbase was unchanged, but interior dimensions grew slightly and styling was fresh. Windstars came in a single body length with a standard right-side sliding door. All Windstars had a V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission. The Cargo and base 3.0L passenger models used a 3.0-liter V6. LX, SE and luxury SEL editions got a 3.8-liter engine. A left-side sliding door was standard on SE and SEL minivans, optional on the others. |
